Liverpool: A Tribute to The Beatles is one of the most sought-after, highly acclaimed tribute bands in the Midwest today. For many years now, the band has captivated audiences at public and private events, large and small, earning a reputation for delivering the best in Beatles tribute performances. In 2015 Liverpool was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame.

From mop-top hair and authentic costumes to a vintage collection of guitars and amplifiers, Liverpool spares no detail in recreating the look, sound, and spirit of The Beatles on the live stage.

The band has performed at a wide array of events, including civic celebrations, fairs, festivals, weddings, corporate events, grand openings, Beatles conventions, and charity galas. Whether in elegant ballrooms, casinos, theaters, downtown squares, city parks, gymnasiums, or major sports stadiums, Liverpool delivers entertainment that meets every client’s needs.

Liverpool has cultivated a large and loyal following throughout its storied—and some would say legendary—career in the entertainment industry. Clients and fans consistently praise the band for their professionalism and dedication to their craft.

Remarkably, Liverpool was not formed through casting calls or auditions. The band’s foundation is rooted in friendships among musicians who shared a passion for great music. Prior to forming Liverpool, three of its original members—Gary Butler, Larry Kips, and Steve Davis—who perform in one of Kansas City’s most popular club bands, The Crayons, focusing on 60s revivalist music and the British Invasion. During a Halloween gig at Blayney’s in Kansas City in 1988, The Crayons dressed up and channeled The Beatles for an inspired set. The crowd’s overwhelming reaction set the band on a new path to create Liverpool: A Tribute to The Beatles. The trio deliberately recruited their friend Jimmy Bond, a phenomenal musician. Though Jimmy passed away a few years ago, his legacy as one of the greatest singers and performers of his generation lives on.

The four members of Liverpool spent nearly a year rehearsing, fine-tuning their sound, acquiring authentic instruments, commissioning costumes, and designing a dynamic stage show featuring painted backdrops and a large video screen. Dave Tanner was recruited to play for many years, and they also added a live, off-stage keyboard player, Jeff Frost, who doubled as stage manager and client contact. (In later years, Mark Agnew took over off-stage keyboards.)

Once Liverpool began marketing itself, bookings poured in. The band has since played thousands of shows from California to Florida and beyond, with many clients returning for repeat performances. Liverpool’s commitment to working closely with clients ensures that every event is not just great, but unforgettable.

Today in 2025, Liverpool continues to honor the greatest music catalog in history with a lineup that includes original members Gary Butler and Steve Davis plus new recruits Mike Penner and Tom Letvinchuck. Together, they carry on the traditions of performing what the whole world knows and loves as the greatest music catalog of any band in history - The Beatles.
